What is Nutritional Therapy?

A Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner™ (FNTP) is a functional nutritional therapist certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc.® to evaluate nutritional needs and make recommendations for dietary changes and nutritional supplementation, helping clients balance body chemistry and achieve optimal wellness. FNTPs are not trained to diagnose or treat pathological conditions, injuries, or diseases.

Nutritional Therapy is based on an approach that seeks the root cause of health concerns. FNTPs do not chase symptoms, but instead utilize nutrient dense, properly prepared, whole foods your body easily recognizes as a way to innately heal itself. FNTPs provide real food and nutritional supplementation recommendations and protocols based on bio-individual needs to bring the body back into balance by supporting five key foundations: digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid deficiency, mineral balance, and hydration.

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
– Hippocrates

For in-person clients, FNTPs are also trained to perform the Functional Evaluation and utilize Lingual-Neuro Testing techniques. The Functional Evaluation uses various lymphatic palpations and other physical assessments to identify nutritional deficiencies and imbalances in the body. Lingual-Neuro Testing allows the NTP to determine which specific supplements will work best to support the client's bio-individuality.

Who can benefit from Nutritional Therapy?

Anyone ready to uncover the root causes of their health concerns and symptoms! Nutritional Therapy is very powerful and has the ability to support anyone at any stage in their life. By addressing the foundations of health (digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid deficiencies, mineral balance, and hydration) in a holistic approach my clients begin to see symptoms resolve they didn't even realize were symptoms because they accepted them as "normal".

Is dry skin, acne, bloating after meals, exhaustion, high stress, or even brain fog considered a normal occurrence for you? Let me be the first to tell you, these symptoms are not normal - but through Nutritional Therapy we can bring your body back into balance and resolve them!

Nutritional Therapy can help with various health concerns and support a magnitude of body functions. I have compiled a short list to illustrate the vast level of areas FNTPs are able to address and/or support:

  • Inflammation
  • Joint Pain
  • Digestive Issues: pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea
  • Acid Reflux/Heartburn
  • Gallbladder Distress
  • Liver Issues
  • Detoxification
  • Migraines/Headaches
  • Allergies/Sinus Issues
  • Fertility
  • Weight Loss
  • Autoimmune Issues
  • Skin Issues: dermatitis, eczema, acne
  • Amenorrhea
  • Hormone Imbalances
  • Stress
  • Adrenal Dysfunction
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Brain Fog
  • Blood Sugar Regulation

I believe that optimal wellness is achieved through proper nutrition, adequate movement, and a positive mindset. The body requires a foundation of nutrient dense foods to fuel and energize the body for movement. Once nutrition and movement are in place, a positive mindset will follow as your brain receives the key components to thrive.
